HARDIN-SIMMONS UNIVERSITY, founded in 1891, is a private university located in Abilene, Texas. HSU provides an academically challenging undergraduate education based on a liberal arts foundation, and advances scholarly growth by offering specialized graduate and professional degree programs.
In the 2022-2023 academic school year, HSU is home to 1,765 students. Through their five major schools and colleges, HSU offers more than 50 undergraduate major and minor, and 13 graduate degrees, from business to physical therapy. To ensure a personalized experience, HSU offers a 12:1 student-faculty ratio. More than 90% of their faculty members hold the highest degrees in their fields of study.
HSU is filled with opportunities for intellectual, social, cultural, and spiritual development. They offer more than 40 campus organizations, including intramural teams in 20 sports, 8 club sports, service groups, academic clubs, and honor societies. HSU also participates in NCAA Division III sports. They offer 18 varsity sports including: basketball, golf, tennis, cross country, track, soccer, football baseball, softball, and volleyball.
More than 98% of HUS students receive financial assistance of some sort. They award more than $47 million in aid to their students, including federal, state, and institutional programs.
